Yonsei University Uses CLASSUM’s AI Assistant “Dot” for the First Time… Students Ask Questions and AI Answers

On March 30, 2022, CLASSUM (CEOs Chaerin Lee and Youjin Choi) announced that it had introduced CLASSUM to Yonsei University starting this month.

To increase class participation, Yonsei University began using CLASSUM with the hopes of creating an environment where students could more comfortably ask and answer questions. CLASSUM also provides an AI assistant, “Dot,” that identifies similar questions and answers them in place of instructors, reducing the burden on instructors to answer redundant questions. With the introduction of CLASSUM, all of Yonsei University’s lectures on the “LearnUs” platform can be linked with CLASSUM and used with CLASSUM’s Q&A feature, feedback feature, learning data, and the AI Dot.

Existing AI chatbots are limited to answering user questions manually and with predetermined, outdated answers, making the user experience both inefficient and time-consuming. However, CLASSUM’s Dot recommends similar questions based on questions accumulated in real-time, meaning it is no longer necessary to manage questions manually. Students can understand their questions more quickly, improving their learning results, and professors and TAs have less unnecessary workload.

Professor Sangwon Lee, director of the Innovation Center for Teaching and Learning at Yonsei University, said, “CLASSUM provides an optimized communication platform for learning by analyzing students’ learning patterns and habits, so we expect both the quality and volume of learning to increase. I hope this helps Yonsei University students to ponder and share questions more, developing into well-rounded global talents.”

CLASSUM’s Co-CEO, Chaerin Lee, said, “By utilizing a platform meant to promote student participation, universities are already beginning to change their learning philosophies to prioritize teaching skills required in the present to their students over simply disseminating knowledge. CLASSUM’s focus on enhancing communication, along with our AI technology, increases educators’ efficiency and student satisfaction.

Used all over the world by over 6,000 schools, companies, and organizations in 25 countries, CLASSUM has recently been attracting attention at a global scale. For example, Yonsei University, Seoul National University, Kookmin University, Samsung Electronics DS, California State University, University of San Francisco, and Michigan State University all currently use CLASSUM. CLASSUM has raised over 6 million USD in investments from four investment companies, including Storm Ventures in Silicon Valley, and has been drawing more attention on the international stage, such as being featured as one of Asia’s 100 most promising companies by Forbes.
